Honda Tire Source

Autumn and spring mark the seasons for tire transitions. Ideal Honda is not just a hub for new and pre-owned vehicles; it embodies a seasoned crew armed with top-tier resources for tire fitting, all at remarkably competitive rates.

THE IMPORTANCE OF TIRES

In Mississauga, fall and spring signal the need for tire changes. Ideal Honda is more than just a dealership for new and used vehicles; we boast a seasoned team equipped with top resources for tire installation at highly competitive prices.

WINTER TIRES VS. ALL-SEASON TIRES: HOW DO THEY DIFFER?

As spring arrives and you put away your winter tires, you can choose between summer tires and all-season tires. Summer tires, also referred to as performance tires, are designed for optimal performance in warm weather, while all-season tires are built to perform adequately throughout all four seasons. However, due to Mississauga’s harsh winters, where temperatures often fall below 7°C, all-season tires may not be ideal for use throughout the entire year.

CAN YOU VISIT THE TIRE CENTER WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT?

Our Honda tire center welcomes walk-ins, allowing you to consult with our experts and receive guidance on purchasing your tires. If you drop by the dealership, we’ll gladly address your questions, or you can choose to schedule an appointment with one of our specialists.

WHAT TIRE SIZE SHOULD I CHOOSE FOR MY HONDA?

You can find the tire size printed on the sidewall of your tires on the vehicle or on the door jamb stamp, it will list the tire size and the recommended tire pressure from the manufacture.

For instance a 2024 CR-V Hybrid tire size is 235/60/18,while a Honda Civic Si tire size is 235/40/18. Tire make and model may vary based on the vehicle trim.

HOW TO INFLATE A PUNCTURED TIRE FOR A HYBRID HONDA?

For a Hybrid Honda vehicle without a spare tire, the process involves injecting a foam aerosol into the punctured tire, followed by inflating it with a compressor (see owner manual for step by step instructions). After this temporary fix, it’s essential to visit our team of Honda Certified Technicians at Ideal Honda. They will ensure your vehicle is safe to drive following the repair.

WHAT TO DO IF A COMBUSTION ENGINE HONDA HAS A FLAT TIRE?

A combustion vehicle will have a spare tire which can be installed temporarily until the tire is repaired if repairable. For any question and clarification feel free to reach out to us.

WHAT IS THE SPEED RATING OF A TIRE?

The speed rating is a letter code that indicates the maximum speed a tire can safely handle under optimal conditions. The ratings are designated by a letter, which corresponds to a specific speed limit.  For instance with a Honda HR-V and CR-V is equipped with a tire code H, which means it can reach up to 210km/h under optimal conditions. Speed rating can be found on the tire’s sidewall as a the part of the tire code, usually listed after the tire size. for example 235/60/18 103H.

HOW TO CHECK TIRE PRESSURE?

To inspect tire pressure, begin by removing the valve cap from the tire. Next, firmly press a tire pressure gauge onto the valve stem to obtain a reading. Compare this reading to the recommended pressure outlined in your vehicle’s manual or on the sticker positioned on the driver’s side door jamb. If the pressure is below the recommended level, add air until it reaches the appropriate level. Repeat this procedure for each tire, including the spare if applicable. Lastly, ensure to securely replace the valve caps after checking the pressure.

WHAT THE BEST PLACE FOR TIRE STORAGE?

The best place to store your tires is in a cool, dry, and dark environment, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep them away from chemicals, solvents, and oils, as these can damage the rubber. Whenever possible, store the tires upright and stack them on their treads to avoid any deformation. Additionally, consider using tire storage bags or covers to protect them from dust and debris.
